EN 14351-1 is the harmonized product standard for windows and pedestrian doorsets without fire resistance and/or smoke control characteristics. It covers the individual window unit: frame, sash, glazing, and hardware as a factory-made product. Declared characteristics include wind load resistance (classes A1-C5), watertightness (classes E1A-E9A), air permeability (classes 1-4), U-value, sound insulation, and safety devices.
The critical point for facade buyers: EN 14351-1 applies to windows and doors as separate products, including those installed within a curtain wall or facade. When you buy a curtain wall with integrated opening vents, the opening elements may carry their own EN 14351-1 DoP, while the wall system carries an EN 13830 DoP. Yes. EN 13830 compliance is based on testing and the manufacturer's factory production control (FPC). A Chinese manufacturer can hold the FPC and issue the DoP after accredited testing — the same legal route any EU manufacturer uses. What matters is that the test laboratory is notified/accredited and the DoP lists the real system configuration.
